There are few things as important to a child than being able to engage with others and the world around them. That means sitting upright and being mobile. It is easy for most of us to take these blessings for granted but with disabled kids becoming mobile doesn’t come without assistance. |
Growing kids have a unique opportunity. They possess the potential to overcome their limitations. They can do this through developing muscles, extending ranges of motion and even growing bones. They are a work in progress and adaptive equipment can increase their functionality as they grow.
Walkers and Braces
Whenever possible we strive to help kids to help themselves. Walkers and braces provide support while still requiring effort from the child through muscle control and coordinated movement. The earlier we can get kids some support to develop mobility in their bodies the better.
Wheelchairs
When most of us think of wheelchairs we imagine the self propelled chairs seen in hospitals on TV. While that can be a solution for some, these types of chairs require upper body and arm strength and coordination.
Unfortunately many children do yet not possess the strength, coordination and dexterity to operate these basic types of chairs. They need something more.

Customizing Wheel Chairs
A wheelchair can be a portal to a child’s world. Chairs need to fit the complex needs of the children. Some kids require an adjustable reclined position, others need desk attachments and nearly all outgrow their chairs. With so many complex needs His Wings Ranch has entire portable dedicated to serve as a wheelchair workshop. It takes a DIY approach to transform wheelchair parts and pieces into a functioning chair for a child.
